Silvestre Revueltas is among the group of composers featured on this presentation who lived in the early 20th century and was key to establishing the marriage of Mexican folk music and traditions into concert music formats. Revueltas lived a short but very intense life. He came from a family of artists and is hailed for bold musical expressions that express humor and intense color. His Ocho por Radio is written for eight instrumentalists and takes us on a rapid-fire excursion of Mexican rhythm and folk inspirations.
