I DREAM IN WIDESCREEN RETURNS TO THE FOX TUCSON THEATRE

You're invited to join us for the 17th edition of I DREAM IN WIDESCREEN, the annual showcase of thesis films created by graduating students at The University of Arizona School of Theatre, Film & Television.

Come see why TFTV filmmakers are generating major buzz at film festivals around the world! This year the event returns to its traditional home, the Fox Tucson Theatre, on Saturday, May 7 at 7 p.m. The 12 shorts, exploring subjects ranging from social media rivalry to drag queen discrimination to public access television gone hilariously wrong, will compete for prizes awarded by a jury of industry leaders. One of our seniors, Linda Paola Varela, wrote a first-person account of the making of her film I'm Just Trying to Help. Read all about it in No Film School.

Doors open at 6 p.m., with film screenings starting at 7 p.m. General admission tickets are $5.

THEATRE RECAP

Our 2021/22 Theatre Season marked our return to live, in-person performances following the pandemic-induced hiatus. We're grateful to have welcomed audiences back to our venues for six incredible presentations from Arizona Repertory Theatre and Next Performance Collective.

Last weekend, we wrapped the season with the inaugural installment of Next Performance Collective's annual New Directions Festival. Six student-created, student-designed, and student-performed works were debuted, providing an opportunity for BA students to tell their stories in their own voices. Arizona Repertory Theatre closed its season with their joyous production of High Fidelity. The show caught the attention of Broadway World reviewer Robert Encila Celdran who acknowledged the “uniquely accomplished” cast – “a sure sign of excellent training” – and the “spectacular” crew and creatives behind the scenes. Read the full Broadway World review.

Stay tuned for details of TFTV's exciting 2022/23 Theatre Season line-up coming soon!
