Join us for John Proctor is the Villain, a bitingly funny new play about five girls running on pop music, optimism, and fury, trying to summon a better future.

Set in 2018, Kimberly Belflower’s play follows a group of Georgia high schoolers as they explore The Crucible, and navigate issues of love, sex, and scandal.

From guest director Tricia Matthews: "The reason The Crucible is the most frequently produced play in the US is it continues to speak as an allegory, a warning, to its audiences. But with John Proctor is the Villain we take a look from a fresh point of view. A view that now includes women’s rights and our ability to speak up and speak out, that questions the patriarchy, and that examines the human consequences."

John Proctor is the Villain runs from Feb. 27 - Mar. 9 in the Marroney Theatre. FREE TICKETS to this production are available for all college and high school students. For details, visit azart.fyi/freetftvtix.

“Life-changing” opportunity: TFTV’s 3rd annual student trip to Sundance

Last month ten senior Film & Television students traveled to Sundance as part of the School of Theatre, Film & Television’s latest trip to the film festival, long considered the most vital global launchpad for independent filmmakers. The students gained insider festival experience as official Sundance volunteers, were among the first to watch new films by lauded filmmakers and fresh voices, expanded their industry networks, and participated in exclusive meet-ups with filmmakers.

The students also got to see TFTV alum and award-winning editor Lindsay Utz (‘03) make her directorial debut in competition at the festival. Utz’s film PRIME MINISTER, a view inside the life of former New Zealand leader Jacinda Ardern, won the World Cinema Documentary Audience Award.

The trip was produced by Prof. Jacob Bricca, ACE and Kerryn Negus, and we’re grateful to donors Jack and Vivian Hanson and Barbara Molotsky for their support.
